Discovery: 1791 by a man named Reverend William Gregor, he wasnt a professional scientist he was intrested in minerals although he found Ti. The story was told he was near black sand by a stream in the near of a parish, he realized the sand was being pulled together by a magnet, so he looked at it very closley. He looked at it then realized that the black sand was made of two metal oxides, iron oxide which was found in big amounts and a 45% was made of a white metallic oxide that he couldn't figure out what it was.
Although it wasnt a pure metal until 1910 a man named Matthew A. Hunter managed to make it into a pure metal.
Origin of the word: The element is named after the Titans meaning strong and tough.
